ITC Sangeet Research Academy is set to celebrate its 40th Anniversary with a Sangeet Sammelan from February 1-3, 2019 at the Academy’s Lawn in Tollygunge. The three-day event will witness the wondrous music of eminent musicians including Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Pandit Kumar Bose, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, Pandit Partha Chatterjee, Ustad Rashid Khan, to name a few.
Since the first ITC Sangeet Sammelan, this year’s Sammelan is expected to continue its rich tradition with young talent along with stalwarts of Hindustani Classical Music. The Sangeet Sammelan provides a unique platform for the Academy to recognise the contribution of our country’s greatest musicians by conferring the ‘ITC Sangeet Samman’ award. In the past, the award has been presented to musicians like Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, Vidwan L Subramaniam, Pandit Swapan Choudhury, Vidushi N Rajam and Pandit Venkatesh Kumar. This year the award will be presented to Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.
