More than 350 people participated in the cleanliness drive, while 4 Convex mirrors & 4 Safety signages installed for road safety
Vedanta joined hands with the village panchayat Navelim, panchayat Sanquelim and Mineral Foundation of Goa, Pratap Nagar to organise series of cleanliness and road safety initiatives to mark Gandhi Jayanti. The daylong celebrations witnessed active participation from Vedanta employee volunteers, students of Sesa Technical School (a unit of Vedanta- Value Added Business (VAB)), Mineral Foundation of Goa, Sanquelim villagers and Navelim villagers in organising series of activities such as – Swacchata awareness rally, cleanliness drives, plastic waste collection, installation of safety convex mirrors and road signage at Navelim village. The aim of the drive was to educate people of the village about the importance of road safety and benefits of cleanliness.
The rally started from Navelim village Paular junction and ended at Vedanta’s – Metcoke division gate. Villagers, students and Vedanta employees enthusiastically participated in the rally and various other activities. The village panchayat members and villagers appreciated Vedanta’s unique way of paying tribute to Gandhiji’s ideology.
On the occasion, Mr Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, Sesa Goa Iron Ore said, “Vedanta has always encouraged the philosophy of environment safety and has been leading many such initiatives in the same lines. We care for the communities around the regions we operate into and believe in making these communities aware about the various best practices to lead a safer and better life.”
