First of its kind, the tournament firmly lives up to its promise of being a great platform to showcase and promote young Indian footballing talent.
The Vedanta Youth Cup, Goa 2019 concluded with a bang wherein Reliance Foundation Young Champs emerging champions of the inaugural edition of the tournament. In the hard-fought final, Reliance Foundation Young Champs edged out Bangalore FC by 2- 1 margin, etching their name in the history as the winner of the inaugural edition of the high-profile tournament.
Mr Annanya Agarwal, President of Sesa Football Academy said, “Vedanta Youth Cup Goa 2019 has set a benchmark in terms of competition and youth development in the country. All the teams have delivered a stellar performance on the pitch. My congratulations to Reliance Foundation Youth Champs team for an outstanding display and emerging as champions of this edition, but I feel Indian football is the real winner today.”
The winners trophy was received by Team Reliance Foundation Youth Champs at the hands of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Mr. Nilkanth Halarnkar – Hon’ble MLA , Thivim Constituency, Mr Annanya Agarwal – President, Sesa Football Academy and Mr Sauvick Mazumdar – CEO, Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business.
Muhammed Nemil Valiyattil of Reliance Foundation Young Champs Team was crowned as the player of the tournament whereas Sandip Mandi of TFC team was awarded Defender of the tournament , Jackson Singh of Team Reliance Foundation Young Champsas Goalkeeper of the tournament and Fredy Chonghansanga of Bangalore FC team as Midfielder of the tournament respectively.
Vedanta Youth Cup, fully lived up to its aim of providing the country’s young footballers with a platform to compete and challenge themselves at a competitive level against the best in their age groups.
The invitational tournament featured a blockbuster line-up of India’s premier youth football academies – Tata Atletico Football Academy, Reliance Foundation Young Champs, JSW Bengaluru FC and SESA Football Academy and marked the first time that these academies got the opportunity to come together and participate in a competitive tournament at the Under-18 level. All the visiting corporate academies along with Vedanta’s SESA Football Academy are leading the development of football at the grassroots level in India and as such have contributed immensely to the development of the Indian Football ecosystem.
