Savlon’s ‘Healthy Hands’ Campaign Bags #2 Spot on WARC Effective 100 Global Index

ITC’s hygiene brand Savlon’s campaign ‘Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks’ has been ranked #2 in the WARC Effective 100 global index. The campaign conceptualised and implemented by Ogilvy Mumbai, in close collaboration with ITC’s Personal Care Products Business Division, aimed to facilitate behavioural change among primary school children by promoting hand hygiene through the unique healthy hands chalk sticks campaign.

Savlon, ITC’s leading hygiene brand, unveiled the #SavlonSwasthIndia Mission, a programme designed to encourage behavioural change towards washing hands amongst children through various engaging and entertaining educational initiatives in schools. In line with the Swasth India’s proposition of ‘Healthier Kids, Stronger India’, the programme introduces interactive activities including a series of storytelling and visual engagement that educate and encourage children to adopt good hand hygiene practices. The Savlon Swasth India Mission introduced an innovative engagement with Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks – a set of unique chalk sticks infused with cleansers like soap. The chalk sticks are designed to engage children in primary schools and emphasise the importance of washing hands before eating.

Sharing his thoughts, Mr. Sameer Satpathy, Chief Executive, Personal Care Products Business, ITC Limited, stated, “We at ITC are indeed proud that Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks has been recognised by WARC Effective 100 as an impactful campaign.  Hand Hygiene is today a critical issue. We believe, to induce behavioural change among children, the process of communication and education has to be fun, engaging and memorable. In that context, Savlon Swasth India’s ‘Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks’ is a simple yet interesting innovation.  It is an engaging way to educate children on the importance of washing hands especially before eating.  This is one of the various educational tools deployed by the Savlon Swasth India team to help initiate children into the habit of washing hands.”

Mr.  Kunal Jeswani, Chief Executive, Ogilvy India said, “The Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks campaign continues to win wonderful accolades across the world’s most respected platforms that celebrate creativity and effectiveness in marketing communications. I am so proud of the wonderful people at ITC, and at Ogilvy, who worked so hard to see this campaign through. At the end of the day, great work is not just the result of a great idea but also the dogged perseverance to see it through. I am so glad that we are surrounded by people who come to work every day with a real passion to do the best one possibly can for the brands we are entrusted with.”
